Scientific studies have shown that blindness and sight problems are linked with poverty. Pakistan is amongst the most impoverished and poorest countries in the world, with an extreme number of people hit by poverty. Over one million people are estimated to be blind in Pakistan, with thousands of children refused education due to their sight. This seems to be an ever growing problem in Pakistan.
MWF organises an Annual Free Eye Surgery Camp in which OPD Camps are set up in Narowal, Pakistan, to provide Free Eye Check. The camps are monitored by Senior Medical Experts. More than 70,000 Free Eye checkups have been provided with thousands referred for further surgery.
